For years students have been put through a trial of fire to qualify for IIT and NIT’s . Millions of parents in India want their children to study at one of the best engineering college’s call IIT and NIT . Over 11,47,000 students apply for JEE just to get a chance in these colleges .But only a handful of just 13,800 make it to those seats.
So what if you are not among those 14,000 students? Well don’t worry there are angels in disguise called private universities that have similar or better facilities like IIT and NIT.

1. Birla Institute of Technology and Science,Pilani

Yes u have heard this name before multiple times in Ads in TV. BITS Pilani is considered to be the TOP private engineering college in India. It has two satellite centers in Hyderabad and Goa along with the main and the oldest center in Pilani, Rajasthan. This institution is amongst the oldest engineering colleges in India and is considered to be at par with IITs. This institue offers B.tech degree in 6 different streams. This institution has laurel of being 6th institute in the list of “eminent” engineering colleges in India.
It ranks in 7th place in India among top institutes and have facilities at par with IITs . This institute has a name and reputation and has toughest entrance competition next only to IIT JEE, so prepare well for entrance.
Admission Process :
Like above colleges you have to appear for entrance exam BITSAT/GMAT/CAT, to get a admission in this college . This is an yearly exam .
The placement record is among the best in the list with more than 80% of students places every year in second and third campuses and 100% in the main campus. The average package is around 14.86 LPA. There is a list of tier-1 and tier-2 companies that come in the campus for placements . For example Tata consultancy, Mahindra ,Vodafone etc.
2. Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT)- Vellore

It is ranked among top 3 % in global universities and is a good opportunity for you to achieve qualification with Facilities on par with IIT and NIT.
Admission Process :
Well if you are thinking that admission will be easy as it is a private college, you are wrong. There is a huge competition to get in this college and the only way you can enter this college is by qualifying VITEEE. This exam is held every year and you can appear this exam through your nearby exam center
A lot of tier 1 and tier 2 companies come for placement recruitment in this college every year from with package unto 39 LPA . The average placement score is 75% in this college which is a decent no among private colleges. Companies such as Microsoft , Intel, E bay, Amazon, Dell, GE, Texas Instruments visit the campus each year form placements .
3. Manipal University (Manipal)
Established : 1993 , No of seats: 4000
Have you ever heard of Satya Nadella ? Yes the CEO of Microsoft. He is an alumni of Manipal university . This is considered as the 2nd best private institute in India ranking up to 13th position In top universities in India with Global ranking of 75%. The university offers various UG , PG and research courses and is your second best option after VIT as a private institute. Manipal University has a secondary center in Jaipur.
Admission Process :
Manipal conducts its own entrance exam called MET where one must score among the ranks to get admission chance in this university. This exam is held every year.
This university has a a good placement record and has an average placement offer of 7 to 8 LPA and the highest placement offer for year 2019 was 22 LPA and have a good placement percentage of 70%. A lot of tier 1, Tier2 and Tier3 companies come for placement in this university which includes names such as Microsoft , Delloite , Dell etc.
4. SRM university (Main campus) :
Established year : 1985, No of seats : 7000
This is a famous UGC approved university. It has one of the largest campus in India and has a huge student number. This university has one of the best facilities in India. It has its main and the oldest campus at Kattankulathur, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. It also has other campuses in Chennai, Ghaziabad (UP) and Sonepat (Haryana). It is one of the largest engineering Universities in India in terms of number of students in all campuses.
This college is ranked 28th among top universities in India and is ranked in top 400 global universities .
For admission the applicant must appear and qualify for SRM JEE. This is a yearly exam and u need to be among top 8000 to qualify for counselling process
This university has a good placement record and has a percentage of 77.01 % .Though not the highest in the list but is a great percentage according to the number of students .
The average package of b.tech degree ranges from 3.7 to 4 LPA. The highest package received previous year is 32 LPA. There is a huge plethora of companies of tear 2 and tier 3 visiting the campus for placements.
5. Amity University (Noida Campus):
Established Year : 2005, No of seats : 5000
Its an ISO Certified college with Green campus and world class facilities. There are several branches spread across the country . Amity offers a wide range of courses to select from and even has the option of distance learning .
It can be ranked as the 5Th best private university and is ranked 34th in India among top university in India.
Admission Process :
To enter Amity u need to appear for Amity JEE and must qualify for it . This year is conducted every year . You must have a minimum of 55% of marks in your board exam. If you have scored more than 80% in your board exam , you need not to appear for entrance exams and can have direct admission . Amity University also accepts JEE main score for admission.
The placement percentage might shock you as its a whooping 90 %. With an average package of 3.5 LPA in undergraduate courses. Each year top IT companies like Microsoft , IBM, Wipro knocking the campus door for placement .
