JoSAA Counselling 2018 - Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2018 has announced the result of JoSAA 2018 counselling for round 2. The candidates can now check their seat allotment status and pay the seat acceptance fee. The registration process for JoSAA counselling had ended on June 25, 2018. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the conducting authority for counselling of admissions for IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs. Seven rounds of JoSAA counselling 2018 is being conducted where the eligible candidates will be allotted seats according to their merit and preferences. JEE Main qualified candidates are eligible for admissions into 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 GFTIs whereas JEE Advanced candidates were able to apply for admissions into all participating institutes including 23 IITs. Note - All the candidates coming to IIT Kanpur Reporting Centre for document verification and seat allotment on June 28, 2018 are advised to come after 12 Noon, as entry to IIT Kanpur campus would be restricted in view of The Honb’le President’s visit to the campus.

JoSAA 2018 Counselling Process

 

The entire process of JoSAA counselling 2018 is conducted to provide admissions and allot seats offered by participating institutes to eligible candidates. JoSAA 2018 counselling is a step wise process which all candidates have to follow for admissions. Before registering for the counselling of JoSAA 2018, the candidates were advised to check the eligibility criteria determined by the official authorities. The steps of JoSAA 2018 counselling are listed below for the candidates to refer:

Step 4 – Availability of Allotment Letter and Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee

Step 5 – Reporting at Reporting Centre

Step 6 – Reporting at Allotted Institutes

 

Step 1 – Registration
The first step of JoSAA counseling 2018 is registration and choice filling. The registration process was open from June 15 to 25, 2018.

  • The candidates had to log in using their JEE Main 2018 roll number and password. If the candidates had qualified JEE Advanced examination, then they had to enter their JEE Advanced 2018 roll number and password. Details about the candidates did not have to be submitted as all of the information was retrieved from JEE Main 2018 registration process.
  • The candidates were able to modify their contact details. It was compulsory for the candidates to change their password during registration.

Step 2 – Filling and Locking of Choices
The next step that the candidates had to complete was to fill their preferred choices and lock it.

  • According to the eligibility of the candidates, the list of available choices was displayed after registration.
  • JEE Main 2018 qualified candidates were able to choose from NITs, IIITs and GFTIs whereas JEE Advanced 2018 qualified candidates were eligible for all institutes including IITs.
  • The selection of choices had to be done according to preference.
  • After the selection is done, the candidates were able to arrange their choices by selecting “Arrange Filled Choices”.
  • The options of “Choice Inter Change” and “Choice Rearrange” were also available for the candidates to modify their selected options. After the rearrangement was done, the candidates could click on “Save”.
  • One or more options could be deleted by the candidates by selecting “Multiple Deletion”.
  • After all the choices were filled, the candidates could either select “I agree to lock my choices” or “I will lock my choices later”. However, all choices had to be locked before the final date. A print out of the confirmed choices had to be taken out by the candidates by entering their JEE Main 2018 roll number and password or JEE Advanced password.

Step 3 – Seat Allotment Announcement

The result of round 1 JoSAA 2018 seat allotment  has been announced on June 27, The process of JoSAA seat allotment 2018 is conducted by the authorities in online mode. The entire JoSAA 2018 allotment process is done based on the merit of the candidate and his/her preferred choices of participating colleges and course.  The result of JoSAA 2018 counselling and seat allotment will be announced in online mode for seven rounds.

 

Step 4 – Availability of Allotment Letter and Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee        

Candidates who have been allotted through the counselling of JoSAA 2018 are required to download their “Provisional Allotment Letter”. The e-challan for payment of seat acceptance fee also has to be downloaded by the candidates. Payment of Rs. 35,000 by the general candidates and Rs. 15,000 by the SC/ST/Gen-PwD/OBC-NCL-PwD/SC-PwD or ST-PwD candidates have to be done through e-Challan or SBI Net Banking.

 

Step 5 – Reporting at Reporting Centre:

All of those candidates who have been allotted seats have to report at their designated reporting centres for verification of documents. All of the required original documents have to be produced by the candidates in the reporting centres. If the candidates do not attend or qualify the document verification process, then their admission may get cancelled. The candidates should remember that those who are allotted into NIT, IIEST, IIIT or other GFTIs will have to report only at the reporting centres of the same.

 

List of Documents Required for Verification

The candidates will have to report at their designated reporting centre with the following original documents along with a set of photocopies which will be retained by the admission committee. The original documents will be returned to the candidates.

 

For IITs

  • Two Passport Size Photographs identical to the one uploaded during JEE Advanced 2018 registration
  • Provisional Seat Allotment Letter
  • Undertaking by the Candidate
  • Proof of Seat Acceptance Fee Payment by e-challan or net banking of SBI (Rs. 15, 000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates and Rs. 35,000 for others)
  • Valid Photo Identity Card
  • Admit Card of JEE Advanced 2018
  • Date of Birth Proof (10th Standard Mark Sheet)
  • 12th Standard (or equivalent) Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate
  • Medical Certificate
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Certificate for PwD (if applicable)
  • Passport (for foreign nationals) of candidates & parents or OCI Certificate or PIO Card (if applicable)
  • DS Certificate (if applicable)
  • Registration cum Locked Choices for Seat Allotment 

For NITs, IIITs and Other GFTIs

  • Three Passport Size Photographs identical to the one Uploaded in JEE Main 2018 Registration
  • Provisional Seat Allotment Letter
  • Candidate Undertaking
  • Proof of Fee Payment by e-challan or Internet Banking of SBI for Seat Acceptance (Rs. 15, 000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates and Rs. 35,000 for others)
  • Photo Identity Card
  • JEE Main 2018 Admit Card
  • JEE Main 2018 Score Card
  • 10th Standard Mark Sheet or Date of Birth Proof
  • 12th Standard (or equivalent) Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate
  • Medical Certificate
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • PwD Certificate (if applicable)
  • OCI Certificate or PIO Card (if applicable)
  • Print out of Filled Choices for Seat Allotment

Step 6 - Reporting at Allotted Institutes

In the final step, the allotted candidates who successfully complete their document verification process will have to report at their allotted institute to confirm their admission. The print out of the final locked choices will have to be submitted while reporting. The remaining balance fees also has to be paid by the candidates.
