Happiness Curriculums: Happy Classes in Delhi Govt. Schools.
At the recently held Asian Summit on Education and Skills organised by the Delhi government, education ministers of Afghanistan and the UAE were among other dignitaries who attended a "happiness class" at a Delhi government school with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
"The delegation attended a happiness class at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in Rouse Avenue and was astounded by the cleanliness of the school, the dynamism of the teachers, the responsiveness of the students and the impact of Happiness Curriculum," an official statement said.
"The group spent time interacting with the students of class 6 and 7 on what is happiness for them and how do they feel about the happiness classes," it added.
'Happiness Curriculum' in Delhi govt:
The 'Happiness Curriculum' launched by the Delhi government focuses on holistic education by including meditation, value education, and mental exercises in conventional education curriculum.
It has been introduced for the students of nursery to Class 8 in government schools from July 12. The new subject has been designed and prepared by a team of 40 Delhi government teachers, educators and volunteers over a period of six months.
Students across schools can expect a 'happiness' period of 45 minutes. The new curriculum will pave the way for physical and mental health well-being, solving problems caused due to negative and destructive emotions like anger, hatred and jealousy.
