f you wish to become a Central government teacher for Class 1 to 5 or Class 6 to 8 or want to join KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools as at teacher then you need to clear Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) exam as it is, besides the other educational qualification, the minimum eligibility criterion for the same.
Schools under the administrative control of Union Territories of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi also accept CTET for absorbing teachers into their respective schools.
The last CTET exam was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) in September 2016. Since then the CBSE has not conducted the exam.
CTET may also apply to the unaided private schools, who may exercise the option of considering the CTET.
A State Government can also consider the CTET if it decides not to conduct the State TET.
National Council For Teacher Education (NCTE) is the governing body for TET exams and all rules/guidelines like eligibility, the syllabus is set by NCTE.
