Through JEE Counseling JOSAA, you can aim for IIT, NIT, and GFTI. IIT is allotted by JEE Advanced marks while the rest of the colleges through JEE main Marks.
First, start with what is your preferences based on your ranking. Everyone has a different priority. Some want to pursue engineering in a particular branch while for other college is more important than the branch. Hence first know your preference.
Check which colleges were available at your rank. Analyze the opening and closing ranks for the previous year. Check what students of a rank similar to you have filled their preferred choice last year. It will give help in selecting your choices
Let’s understand the strategy with an example:
Suppose your rank is 1000. Choose the choices that are available at rank 500 and go down until rank 3000.This way the colleges and branches that are lesser chances are given higher priority.
