To become an Agent of CBI, you must appear in the examinations conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), which is known as Combined Graduate Examination. This examination is carried out once a year for the post of Police Sub-Inspectors at the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI). The eligibility criteria for appearing in the UPSC Exam is Graduation with 50 percent of marks and the candidate’s age must not exceed 25 years.

CBI recruits candidates through direct recruitment, deployment, promotion of seniority or limited review of departmental competence. All direct recruitment of Group C posts to sub-inspectors, officers and subordinates of the lower division is done through the Personnel Selection Committee (SSC).

Procedure for entering CBI as a Sub-Inspector:

Sub-Inspectors are recruited through the combined SSC Diploma Examination (CGLE), followed by a Medical Examination and a Personal Interview. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is a Premier Investigating Agency of the country which enjoys the trust of the people, Parliament, Judiciary and the Government.

CBI as Inspector General of Police, Delhi Special Police Establishment and Director is responsible for the Administration of the Organization.

CBI has the following Divisions:

Anti-Corruption Division

Administration Division

Special Crimes Division

Economic Offences Division

Directorate of Prosecution

Policy & Coordination Division

Central Forensic Science Laboratory

CBI Officer Eligibility Criteria:

The candidates should be Graduates in any discipline with 50 percent of marks. The candidates should have taken the Graduation from an Institution which is Recognized and also reputed in all respects.

The candidate’s eligibility criteria’s will also vary according to the type of posts for which one is applying to.

The candidates should be between 20 to 27 years of Age. There is an age relaxation in case of the OBC candidates which is 3 years and for SC/ST candidates it is 5 years.

Physical Standards Required for CBI Exam:

Height:

165 centimeters for MEN

150 centimeters for WOMEN

Chest:

For men, it should be 76 centimeters with expansion.

For women, there is no criteria in this parameter.

Exam Pattern: There is Preliminary Exam followed by Mains Exam and Personality Test.
